Random (IV)
I rode a jellyfish today,
It whispered “Look, a tree!”
Then climbed up high and wore a tie
While sipping chamomile tea.
The clouds were all discussing
The finer points of jazz—
The sun, it tried to interrupt,
But then it slipped on grass.
The clock began to cackle
And swapped its hands for feet,
While shoes discussed their politics
And argued who was sweet.
I met a hat that nodded
Then asked if I had dreams—
I said, “Well, I was dreaming,
But I lost it to some beans!”
Now here I sit with parsley
Trying to explain to me—
That time, once caught and bottled,
Can’t ever really be.
