Making of a Hero

What Makes a Hero?

Not he who seeks the laurel’s glow,

nor one whom fleeting crowds bestow

their fickle praise, then turn away—

a hero walks a different way.

With steadfast heart through trials grim,

he does not yield, though fate seems dim.

His cause is not for self or fame,

but for the truth, despite the blame.

He stands when others shrink in fear,

undaunted though the cost is dear.

Through fire and storm, through doubt and strife,

his honor holds, his soul stays rife.

No trumpet sounds, no banner flies,

yet still he lifts another’s cries.

And though his name may fade from lore,

his deeds endure forevermore.
