Humanity - Two Voices
Lament -
You don't look like me
You don't think like me
You don't talk like me
Why do you cry?
You don't know God like me
You don't pray like me
You can't rule over me
Don't even try
You don't vote like me
You disagree with me
You can't be friends with me
I'll tell you why
You don't live like me
You don't love like me
Your ways are wrong to me
Why don't you die?
Retort -
God knows me sure as he knows you
He made me as your brother too
No more or less His child am I
Why won't you see? You can't deny!
We walk the reaches of this earth
Each with grace that proves our worth
Two images divine, our souls
For greater glory, kin I'm told
Our whole is greater than the parts
Together stronger than apart
What do you fear? Have you forgot?
We're all God's children, are we not?
Reconsider your position.
Hate is such a mad condition.
Arrest your bellicose volition.
Make love of all mankind your mission.
