Fall Reflections

Enthroned upon my easy chair The cat purrs softly, he's content The scene beyond the pane advanced Season's palette all but spent Yet branches loiter cloaked in hue Preparing hibernation soon To be enrobed in glittered ice Beneath a nascent moon The dusk of Sol's celestial ride casts shadow on Earth's industry As mother soothes her child in song Fall perseveres relentlessly And I within my cradle rock as season's gifts waft from the hearth How many more will He allow? before that scene is winter's shroud.

Lilac Season

The season of darkness has expired; Now Nature wakes, no longer tired. Life emerges from the land— God’s greening grace is close at hand. Not only do the verdant hues Reveal such hopeful, splendid views, But amarillo and ruby cups Invite the bee and fill them up. Soon—yes, very, very soon— Exotic scents will sweeten May, As lilacs take my breath away. A child when first their bloom I met, So sweet, they must be Heaven-scent I’d steal a bloom with fingers gloved, A gift for the mother I dearly loved. But fleeting is their purple breath, A fragile gift that flirts with death. The winds may steal what springtime grows, And raindrops bruise each tender rose. So while they bloom, I pause and see— This lilac grace is lent, not free.

Spring Haiku

an awakening  as dark fever is broken green leaves and bacon

Rain

It's going to rain, but that's okay I don't care either way The season's promise still remains We shouldn't fear a springtime rain Let it thunder, let it flash Let puddles form for kids to splash Soon the clouds will part and then we'll bask in sunshine once again Copyright 2025, Marc E.Brodeur

A Fresh New Day

Hey darkness, I have news for you The night has passed and you are through Both north and south now frame the east Beckons dawn and hope of peace The bluing of the sky begins Around the curve a golden tinge A faint pink cloud peels back night's cloak Faithful promise swells good folk. For self I shall not wish today But rather I should kneel and pray Blessings are the gift of He Who sends all light and warmth to thee. Rise oh orb of regal glow Upon the Earth His love bestow For days grow long and nights grow small And I love sunrise best of all.

The Fall Sky Has Found Me

The Fall sky has found me today  Earth's crown dressed in blue, replaced by the gray  Tears of the season sooth the scorched fields  Soon Earth will sleep, soon it will heal   Wind scours the warmth with merciless treason  My Summer well lived, I resign to the season   Alas! Now we'll know the bite and the howl.  Not far in the distance breathes Winter most foul.   Is it so fearful you beg to beware  No ! T'is the blessing of God's loving care.   Doubt not resurrection as Summer does close  There are yet many Springs for the blush of the rose.  Copyright © 2005 by Marc Ernest Brodeur

Blessed Wintertide

What dark portense of winter's sky bids morbid dread to souls' content? Is it the frigid gale of night that serenades with dark lament? Angelic psalms through windswept sky warn of darkness' frigid bite. Guard heart's repose 'neath blanket's shield. Pray God to bless your peace this night. Oh Lord we welcome Heaven's cloak. So pure that wondrous dress. A sheen of glory, white and bare, Your soothing, tranquil, holy crest. Hark! The joy of children's glee. A choir of cherubic mirth. Out of frigid season's clay, A winter tribe is given birth. There is life within the tomb that issues forth from Jack Frost's breath Faith's confidence repeals the fear. Love's strengh transcends deceitful death. God tempers life in rhythmic season Spring yields Summer, then Fall's delight. We must allow that Wisdom reigns in blessed Winter's holy rite. Summer is for Living

Light, warmth, sweet breezes, He whispers. Dawn’s favor majestically waits . A fine summer day has presented its promise I’m alive and His gift I’ll not waste. What plan do you sing my beneficent angel? How shall we avail this fine turn? Shall we laugh? Shall we dance? Shall we sing? Shall we pray? Does your mission beg urgent concern? Lead me through sunshine aloft on your wings. Embolden my spirit to soar. I must marshal my talents as He has demanded. I must live to the fullest, should there not be one more. Summer, oh summer! Your days are for living. I slept a long winter, then spring lead me to you. I’m ready to honor your plan. Imbue every breath and waste not one heartbeat. Summer! Oh Summer! How Grand!

Sunrise — My Spring

I wake and rise and face the morn' It is my finest hour I stroll to fetch the daily word The East gleams with His power There is a beam, a golden crown It rises with His promise Another day to serve the Lord Another blessing on us. I turn and stop and drink it in Giving thanks for life's renewal The start of Spring's joy yet again Heart warms with love's accrual Spring's season is a brief quartern For those with bearish mettle But my return from nocturn's rest Prays daily hope to settle The days and weeks and years march on Still hush my final mile Till then each day is filled with hope To live, to love, to smile Copyright © 2010 by Marc Ernest Brodeur
