Long Ago, but Was It So?
The days were golden, soft and bright,
The world seemed simple, bathed in light.
We laughed, we danced, we let time flow—
But did we though?
The summers stretched so warm, so long,
Our hearts in sync, the world a song.
We swore we’d never taste the woe—
But was it so?
The past we knew, or thought we did,
Held secrets deep, in shadow hid.
We see it now through softened glow—
But did we though?
Speak of memories. Speak of youth.
Of love once strong, of growing truth.
Of things we lost, yet never knew—
But was it so?
For memories fade and shadows lie,
We paint them soft as years go by.
The past was light, or so we crow—
So long ago, but was it so?
How do you know?
