I Was An A Student

I was an A student today

Report that was glowing

Excited pride showing

Yes! I was an A student today.


So many spelling words did I master

Reading and writing were far from disaster

I can tame numbers using only my mind

I solve long divisions in near record time

Yes! I was an A student today.


Then Mom and Dad checked my scores closely

They were impressed, well, Dad was , mostly

But with a straight face, and a stern but kind voice

He praised my work ethic as an admirable choice

And just as I breathe a sigh of relief,

Dad spoke once again, as advisor in chief.


A's  may be excellent and your effort is good

But be not too anxious to rest as you would

There's alway more knowledge for you to consume

Take a short break to play, then go to your room.


Studying, learning , and practicing skills,

Is the habit to master, climbing life's hills

So yes you're an Ace of a student today

But you can always do better in every way.

Just scratching where it itches!
